You know that you need to boost your online visibility.
The BIG question is where should you start, because you are bombarded with thousands of different strategies.
Everyone has their own idea about which strategy works and what social media platform you should be on. The secret to your success, is you trusting your own intuition. If a particular strategy doesn’t align with your values, don’t try it.
Most of all, please do not try to copy someone else. We are all unique, and copying someone else will never yield the same exact results. It’s best to learn strategies from those that are successful, and once implemented, begin to tweak them to align with your personal beliefs, values, and goals.
5 Easy Tips to Boost Your Online Visibility
- Engage with your community:
Your community includes your website, list, and social media platforms. To engage with them, you need to give them good valuable information that they want. To come up with ideas for what information would be valuable for them, you need to know what their problems are and what results they want. Then when you engage with them, you give them tips on how to solve their problems and how to get the results they want. - Guest blog on relevant websites:
Do a Google search on your niche, the problem that you help your community solve and the results that they are looking for. Look at which sites show up on the first page, then research them to see if they accept guest posts. Links are typically at the bottom of the page and may list things like, write for us, guest articles, guest posts, guest authors, etc. Sometimes the links are sort of hidden in the contact page.
When you find a site, that accepts guest articles, follow their directions. You only want to write for articles that allow you to have a bio. Your bio needs to have a clear call to action that will get them on your list. If your community hangs out on Facebook, find groups that they belong to. Join these groups, and offer engage with members. Do not blatantly advertise your services or products as this will likely get you banned from the group and group members see right through it. However, if you offer good valuable advice, answer people’s questions, ask questions and then share your services under appropriate prompts, people will respond.
LinkedIn also has groups that you can join, to engage with others. If your community likes forums, then participate in them. For instance, my husband is an avid bass fisherman, and his community loves forums. That’s where he hangs out to promote his site, bassnman.com
4. Create Visuals with your website
Visuals are HOT online right now. Quotes, funny pictures, etc are the most viewed and shared items across social media. This is how Pinterest and Instagram grew so quickly. People love pictures!
Interestingly, only about ten percent of entrepreneurs create their own engaging visuals that have their URL on it. They believe they are engaging by sharing everyone else’s content. While it is good to share other people’s stuff, it should be done minimally. Most of your graphics should showcase you and your business. This one simple tip can bring you clients for years to come.
However, if people are sharing your pictures and there is no URL or logo on it, no one knows who created it and they will never find you.
5. Stay Focused and Be Consistent:
Set aside one or two hours per day to work on your visibility. You can even break it down into four 15-minute segments if you need to. Don’t allow yourself to get drawn into the massive noise that is online. Set a timer and stay focused on what your intention is. Once that’s done, you’ll have the freedom to play online if you wish.
I suggest that in the beginning, you choose one or two places to be visible. Once you’ve mastered those platforms, you can add another.
Be consistent. If you are not consistent, you will not build the momentum and leverage needed to boost your online visibility.
