You have put your heart and soul into creating a beautiful site.
Now, you are wondering how to drive traffic to your site and begin attracting your ideal clients while you sleep.
Sadly, the days of “If you build it, they will come,” are over. But that is not to say that you cannot get traffic.
BEWARE ….
More views may not necessarily equal more income or more sales. At one time, I had this beautiful self-improvement website, full of articles, that were full of affiliate links. I was getting 20,000 unique visitors per month. Guess how much I was making off of that site?
Yep, very very little. Most months I made zero income, I had a few sales here and there and would get checks for $25 or $50.
The problem was simple. I was talking to everyone, and that very rarely if ever equates to sales. I needed to focus on one area of personal development so that folks would stick around and want to come back for the latest posts.
CAUTION ….

Here are 7 ways to drive traffic to your site:
1) Search Engine Optimization (SEO)
Many new online entrepreneurs believe they need to hand over thousands of dollars to an SEO expert to drive traffic to their site. You could do this, however, know that once you start you may be committing to it for life. Google algorithms constantly change and thousands of websites are added daily. Trying to stay on top of it all can be a full-time job.
If you are using WordPress as your platform, I suggest you add the Yoast SEO Plugin. You choose a keyword for your article and follow Yoast’s direction until all the buttons have a green light. You are then good to go, leave it and move on to your next post or project.
2) Paid Advertising
There are many – many ways to advertise online to drive traffic to your site. Including Google, MSN, Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, LinkedIn, websites, podcasts, and newsletters.
Advertising can also be costly. I do not recommend advertising simply to drive traffic. You need to track everything you do to ensure that you’re bringing in more money than you’re paying out. I do not recommend advertising simply to drive traffic. You advertise to build your list.
All paid advertising should go to an opt-in page for a free or paid offer. (free usually performs better.) You can offer webinars, opt-in gifts, programs, and a host of other things. You need to have a kickass nurture/follow-up email sequence that is automated and proven to get results.
3) Guest Posting
Writing a guest post for a popular blog in your niche is a cool way to drive traffic to your site. Another amazing benefit of guest posting is that when it’s done right it will add backlinks to your website, which helps with your SEO.
Many websites accept guest posts. Do a Google search on your keywords or topic and check out the sites on the first page of Google to see if they accept guest posts. Be sure to read and follow their guidelines.
Utilize your bio section to direct new traffic to your gift. Remember, the goal is to get people on your email list. Take them to your website, after they complete the opt-in form.
Do not put the exact posts you write for article marketing on your site. You can write a similar one, with the same topic, but it must be different. This is to avoid any duplicate content penalties from search engines.
4) Speaking
The mere mention of speaking may make you nervous because you picture yourself in front of hundreds of people. The truth is if you’re talking to only one person, you are speaking. You need to speak to share your message.
There are numerous ways to speak online to drive traffic to your site, There are thousands of podcasts and radio shows that are constantly looking for guests. There are also numerous summits. A JV partnership is formed when you and another expert join forces for one common goal. This can be introducing each other to your audiences or participating in a summit or giveaway.
You want to partner with experts that serve the same audience as you. You can collaborate with experts through giveaways, online seminars, virtual summits, webinars or just promoting each other on Facebook live.
You could also partner with a group of experts, and agree to share one another latest blog posts via social media.

One could probably write thousands of articles on this one subject. There are numerous social media sites, each with its own pros and cons. It’s important to note that when people visit your blog from a social media form they are more likely to stay on your site a log longer. Social media is seen as a form of “word of mouth” marketing.
The cool thing about social media is that it is the only way that allows you to have a two-way conversation with prospects and really connect with them on a deeper level.
