The H1 should be reserved for the title of your post. It includes both inbound and outbound links to articles related to the same topic.
When inbound linking, you may want to link two or more articles that have very similar keywords or phrases. Bold or italicize key points in your post to make it easily scannable.
Quality
Focus on the quality of your post rather than quantity. A lot of people get hung up on how long a blog post should be. You will find estimates ranging from 400 to 2500 words, with most agreeing that 700 is the sweet spot.
However, the best rule of thumb is to say what you want to say for the reader to gain real value in as little (or as many) words as it takes.
Your focus keyword should be about 1 to 2-percent of the total words. For example, it would appear 7 to 14 times in a 700-word post.
Remember, that you are writing to a real human being, so you want to write to communicate, so your keywords need to flow naturally into your story. Write in a simple, clear, concise manner, with language that a 6th grader could understand.
Pictures
Many people throw pictures in the mix for pure visual appeal and don’t realize the SEO aspect that pictures can play. For example, they upload pictures with names like image01.jpg. Rename your pictures with your focus keyword or phrase.
Also, give your image a title that also includes your keywords. An added benefit that you may not realize, is that by optimizing your pictures this way, you might also show up in a Google image search which will draw traffic to your site.
Meta Description
The meta description is the blurb that will show on a search engine. They play a major role in the ranking of your site.
In addition, they a key factor in whether or not clients will click on it to visit your page. It needs to entice them. The meta description needs to clearly show the benefit the reader will receive. It MUST contain your focus keywords, so that people will automatically say, that’s what I was looking for!
