Has your business turned into something you dread?
Are you ready to love your business again, so that it brings you the joy and freedom that you crave?
When you decided to go into business for yourself, were you head-over-heels in love with the idea?
Were you ready to step into the new phase and change the world, one life at a time?
Did you do everything you knew how to do and then some?
You posted on social media, started a blog, did some videos, and created programs with little to no success.
It didn’t take long for you to start questioning yourself…
- Should I stay in business?
- Am I smart enough?
- What do I have “new” to offer?
- Can I really learn all of this stuff?
The love for your business and the visions of hope that you once had, began to fade.
Now all you’re left with is a lot of hard work, that’s not fun. Your business has definitely lost that “loving feeling.”
Success is not the key to happiness.
Happiness is the key to success.
If you love what you are doing,
you will be successful.”
~ Albert Schweitzer
Here are 7 ways to Love Your Business – Again!
1) Connect your business to who you are:
Many business owners get into the “shiny new object syndrome.” They believe they need this one more thing to succeed. Or, they believe that they must do a particular strategy to succeed, that they don’t enjoy. Then suffer trying to do it consistently. Ask yourself:
- What is your personality type?
- What are your strengths?
- What do you find FUN to do?
- What are your values?
- Why is your business important to you?
- What would you like to change in your business to be more fun?
2) To Love Your Business Work with people you love:
Many new and struggling entrepreneurs, take on anyone as a client. What’s worse is that they allow the client to dictate the hours and the amount paid.
This will drain the “love” out of your business very very quickly! Decide right now that you will ONLY work with your ideal clients.
Understand that your ideal clients are hardwired to love you and that you can have a fun and profitable business by catering only to them.
Ask yourself:
- What do I love about my ideal client?
- What do my ideal clients love about me?
- What makes us click?
3) Create systems:
Systems simplify your life and business. Systems save you a ton of time.
Another great thing about systems is that once you have all the steps of a particular task written down, it is easy to give it to someone else to do. Suggestions:
- Do what I do. I have created ONE very long Word document, which I named “My Systems.” Each task is headlined and is in alphabetical order. I use the navigation function. This enables me to find anything I’m looking for in a jiffy as I don’t have to go looking through numerous files and folders. It’s one document that can easily be kept open all day long for fast and easy reference.
- Examples of systemized items: How to post to a blog, an email template to prospective clients, the anatomy of a sales page, checklists, templates, YouTube blurb and tags, bio, social media links, important URLs, etc.
- Create dedicated files for blog post ideas, other thoughts, and experts that you would like to collaborate with (or have already collaborated with.)
- A MUST-HAVE is a document where you put all your “Love Notes” from happy clients. When you’re feeling down and out, take a moment to read them, which will motivate you and help you remember why you love your business.
4) To Love Your Business Delegate:
In life and in business, there will always be things we don’t like to do – but need to do such as our taxes. That being said, there are a lot of mundane tasks you do, that prevent you from building a successful business and keep you stuck.
Think you don’t have the money to hire someone to help?
Consider the following:
- Do your research. Choose overseas workers for things like posting your blog posts, your emails, creating graphics, or doing research.
- Find an intern. There are a lot of people who will work for you for free, in exchange for you teaching them what you know
- Do a trade. There are business owners who will do the work for you in exchange for your services, programs, and/or coaching.
5) Plan:
Plan your business. Create daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly, and yearly goals.
Set Action milestones – not monetary ones. You are 100% in control of doing 5 sales calls a week, however, you’re not in control of how much you will earn. When you start doing the right actions consistently, the money will follow.
- Measure your progress. Create a checklist or star chart, where you mark off each day that you completed your actions.
- Reflect on your progress. Identify where you want to get better results and choose an action to get there.
- Be Creative! Your business is your playground. You get to set the tone of the game and the rules. Have fun with it when you create marketing materials, deliver your product, or talk about your business.
- Celebrate your wins. Every win puts you one step closer to your dreams and goals. Celebrating helps to provide momentum which will keep you going during the tough times.
6) To Love Your Business – Socialize:
Many online businesses fall out of love with their business simply because they can get lonely. Therefore, it is very important to socialize and connect with like-minded entrepreneurs. Suggestions:
- Attend live events and conferences
- Go to Meetup groups or start your own
- Have a coffee date with a business owner in your area. Even if you must drive to meet them halfway the benefits are enormous!
- Join a mastermind group
- Join groups such as Toastmasters
7) Love Yourself!
Yeah, yeah you’ve heard it before. I really can’t say this enough.
If you are constantly beating yourself down, how do you expect to love your business?
If you are working 24/7 on your business and not taking time for yourself and the things you enjoy, you’ll quickly burn out.
Here are some ways to love yourself:
- Take a 5-minute break every hour and leave your work area. Perhaps go outside and breathe in some fresh air
- Have a pure-pleasure day, where you don’t work and only do what you feel like doing. This could be binging on Netflix, taking a bath, reading, or visiting with friends.
- Schedule time for yourself to exercise, meditate, pray, eat … and remember you are your #1 client.
- Spend time with your family and friends
Implement some or all these ways to fall in love with your business again and you’ll discover that you have a bigger passion for your business as well as life. You got into business for yourself to create your dream life. Start creating it.
