You’re trying ALL of the online strategies that you’ve heard about … and nothing seems to be working.
You begin to doubt yourself and then like a crazy person and start trying every online strategy that you hear about and start implementing them.
They don’t seem to work either.
Now you’re on a wild roller coaster ride, trying to figure out what’s wrong. Maybe it’s your messaging, strategies, niche, or the platform you’re using. Or perhaps you’re just not cut out for this.

Step 1: Check your Mindset
When something is not working in your business, the VERY FIRST PLACE to look for answers is in your mind. Yepp, check that mindset of yours.
If you believe something is not working, and you continually tell yourself that it’s not working, then it continues to not work.
By continuing to tell yourself that the online strategy you are using does not work, it becomes a belief, which leads you to do things that make it a self-fulfilling prophecy.
When you believe something, your subconscious mind shows you ALL the proof you need to validate that belief – and this is the main reason why the online strategy you’re implementing is not working for you.
Your subconscious is like a million little worker bees. Its job is to prove and validate everything that you tell it.
Every time you find a belief that is not serving you, (such as this is the wrong online strategy, message, niche, platform ec.) ask yourself what it is that you want to believe and then consciously start to change your thoughts to ones that lead to your new belief that serves you.
To consciously change your beliefs you can do 3 things:
- Affirm your new belief, “The strategies I use to attract my ideal clients work like magic.”
- Continually ask yourself, “Why are my strategies attracting my ideal clients?” (When you ask yourself a question those worker bees in your subconscious work overtime to find the answer.)
- Visualize the online strategy you are using working better than you hoped for.
STEP 2: Check in with your personal values
Next, ask yourself if the online strategy you are using is aligned with your personal values. This includes using a strategy that sounds fun and interesting to you. If you’re not having fun with it, chances are you’ll rush through it.
The online strategy works for someone, somewhere – that’s how you found it. However, if you are using it simply because someone told you to, and you’re not having fun doing it – then it’s not the right online strategy for you.
Check-in with your intuition. It’s truly your superpower where your business is concerned. What sounds fun and exciting to you? How can you change the online strategy so that it is fun and exciting?
If the online strategy doesn’t align with your personal values – DUMP IT – Right Now!!!
You get to run your business, your way. It’s your playground. This means everything about it needs to align with your personal beliefs and values.
STEP 3: Tweak the Online Strategy
Once you’ve completed steps 1 and 2, then it’s time to take a good hard look at the online strategy itself:
First, ask yourself if you’ve given it a fair chance and have been consistent with it? Remember consistency in business is sexy!
Second, check to see what you can tweak. It could be as simple as posting more often, or changing one simple word in your messaging.
Experiment, and start tweaking. IMPORTANT: Only tweak one thing at a time. Give it a few weeks to see the results then tweak one more thing. Make a game of it. You’ll soon start seeing results from the online strategy you are using – whether good or not so good. This is valuable information that will allow you to move forward successfully.
Look at what’s working. For instance, if a certain type of post gets more engagement, write more posts about that particular subject. The trick is to find the ideal combination between your message and what your ideal client wants.
You can also ask your clients what it is that they want. Do quick surveys or short polls, you might be surprised about what you discover!
Be Confident! Be Persistent!
I disagree with people who tell you to abandon ship. Yes, this will be the answer at times. But, I find too many people abandon their ship time and time again, simply because they are looking for a magic strategy that doesn’t exist.
Continue to tweak the strategies you are using and be consistent. Constantly ask yourself … What else? What’s next?
If you’re passionate about your mission and you’re aligned with your values, it’s more often a mindset shift that will work for you rather than changing your online strategy or your niche. A mindset shift will propel you into the required action needed to accomplish your goals.
